First Aid at Work (FAW)

Our First Aid at Work training course provides essential, in-depth first aid skills for workplaces of all sizes and risk levels. Designed to meet HSE requirements, this comprehensive course equips designated first aiders with the confidence and competence to respond effectively to a wide range of workplace medical emergencies.

Ideal for higher-risk environments such as construction, manufacturing, warehouses and large offices, the course covers life-saving first aid techniques, including managing unconscious casualties, CPR and AED use, choking, severe bleeding, shock and common workplace injuries. Training is delivered by experienced instructors using practical, scenario-based learning to ensure skills can be applied confidently in real-life situations.

What will you learn?

Course Content:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider, including incident reporting and infection control

  • Assess an emergency situation safely, and take appropriate action

  • Perform primary and secondary surveys to identify life-threatening conditions

  • Manage an unresponsive casualty – recovery position

  • Deliver effective CPR

  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and confidently

  • Recognise and treat choking

  • Recognise and manage shock

  • Control severe bleeding, including the use of pressure and dressings

  • Treat common workplace injuries and illnesses, including:

    • Burns and scalds

    • Fractures and dislocations

    • Head and spinal injuries

    • Sprains and strains

    • Eye injuries

    • Seizures

    • Asthma attacks

    • Heart attacks

    • Stroke (FAST recognition)

    • Diabetic emergencies

    • Poisoning and anaphylaxis
